Desert Springs, Indiana Golf Course

Hole 5
Playing the course at Desert Springs will give all golfing abilities an unbelievable experience on their golf holiday. The Indiana course, as it has been named, has been inspired by the famous desert courses of Arizona and California. Its designer, Peter McEvoy the outstanding British amateur golfer, has created an exceptional golf course. Its lush fairways bordered by manicured rough, wind their way through large cactus plants, of which there are over 600,000, flowering rock formations, streams, dry rivers and lakes. Thus making this an extraordinary place to play golf in Spain on your golf holiday.

The properties which have been built around the edges of the course have been carefully placed so as not to detract from its visually magnificent desert setting.
The course opened in 2001 and has been built to very high USGA specifications. It measures some 6159 metres off the championship tees, has a par of 72 and every hole has a unique name giving any ability of golfer on their golf holiday a real rollercoaster round of golf from the moment they tee off on “The Cactus Point” 1st hole and putt out on the “Last Chance” 18th. Because of its design, the golfer will require accurate tee and fairway approach shots when playing the Desert Springs “Indiana course” and any wild drive will find itself amongst the dense and troublesome desert vegetation. The greens are not overly large but provide the golfer with fast and smooth undulating surfaces which will test even the best of putters. The practice facilities at Desert Springs are amazing; there is a golf academy which houses a magnificent range with open and covered practice options giving you the chance to hone your game whilst on your golf holiday.

There is an indoor video tuition studio and close by are large high quality chipping and putting practice greens which are rarely seen outside of more older and famous golfing venues. The quality of the course and practice facilities can be confirmed by the decision of the Ladies Golf Union and the Golf Union of Wales to make Desert Springs their “Spanish Home”. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation also has  strong links at the resort and they have held the Spanish Amateur Open here in 2004 and again in 2007 as well as the men’s and ladies Senior Professional Championships in 2007. The academy of golf here is so good that many National and County squads make regular visits from the UK to practice at Desert Springs.
Desert Springs is a really unique place to visit and play golf, so if you are looking for a great golf course, in quiet and secluded surroundings, with a level of service second to none, then you will not be disappointed when taking a golf holiday at this amazing resort.
