The golf course was designed and built by its owner Denis Barker, who after buying the land in 1979, decided to build a golf course on it after a visit to America and Canada. The course opened in 1985 and became the first golf estate to be built in South Africa. Some say that it is the most spectacular 18 holes of golf in Southern Africa and being framed by its wild coastal forests it’s easy to see why. In many ways Selborne was the catalyst for the creation of golf resorts in South Africa and there are now over 30. Facilities at the club are first class; its clubhouse is elegant and luxurious and houses all the usual amenities. There is a bar and lounge where you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and you can enjoy a meal on the terrace which over looks the golf course. The practice facilities are second to none and all the clubs facilities are available to the golfer whilst playing at the club. Spending a day at Selborne Hotel Spa and Golf Resort is a must during your trip to play golf in South Africa. Voted 28th best course in South Africa by golf digest in 2006 proves that this is a truly world class resort. We highly recommend you play this course when you come to play golf in South Africa.

Selborne is a beautiful and charming golf course. Set in the Selborne Estate and is regarded as one of the top venues when coming to play golf in South Africa. It winds its way through lush and interesting vegetation and with its undulating terrain and many water hazards it makes for an interesting test and with its par of 72 and length of 6040 metres it is a pleasure for all levels of golfer. Although the course is set in an estate, which is common when playing golf in South Africa, it has many private houses and a first class hotel the buildings do not interfere with the course thus not removing the enjoyment of the golfers round
