Vilamoura has over the years become known as the capital for golf in the Algarve. It is actually the name of the area than any actual town. The nearest town, which is well worth a visit, is in fact the commercial and administrative town of Loule.
The area of Vilamoura is covered in a variety of vegetation, such as pine forests and recovered marshlands and was designed to be self-sufficient for locals and overseas property owners alike.
